We departed Ucluelet around 10:00am, hoping to make the 12:30 ferry (again?). But this was a Wednesday, so we were certain there wouldn’t be a huge amount of traffic. (They called this “foreshadowing” in my writer’s workshop.) So once again it was a pleasant trip in the Crossfire. Now the Crossfire has [...] During our visit to Ucluelet we stayed in this cabin.
You can see from the empty lot that this is the off season.
These are these are the whale watching boats. We were scheduled to go out on the bigger Dixie IV.
But due to weather, the boat was not able to leave the harbor.
We departed at 11:50 from our house to catch the 12:30 ferry to Vancouver Island, and you may have guessed that, being a Sunday, we didn’t get on the 12:30 sailing. We were actually about 6 cars from making it on. In any case, we passed the time waiting for the next ferry by visiting [...] After the dog sled adventure we took a little drive down the road (40kms?) into Wells Gray Park. It was a very pleasant drive and we saw horses and a bison farm on the way. Our goal was to visit Helcken Falls. It’s 3 times as high at Niagara Falls and with all the cold weather [...] We awoke from our room bright and early.
Headed out to the woods.
Hooked up the team to the sled.
Harnessed the team.
And took off.
Then we stopped to take photos.
And took off again back down the mountain.

Carrying on [...] So here’s the rundown (see pictures in Steve’s post above). We arrived at the homestead yesterday and got settled in. The proprietor told us that the sledding would start early since it was so warm, the dogs get too hot by the afternoon, so we were told to meet our guide at 8:00 am at a [...] I am so cool I can hardly stand myself!
While in Salmon Arm we of course checked in on the little ones. This is Shaylene and the cat. She’s in high school. She might be coming to Simon Fraser University, or maybe the University College of the Cariboo (or whatever its called now) in Kamloops.
